Explanations and timings for each question in Papers 1A and 2A in the new AQA GCSE English exam. The success criteria are also included and explained so that pupils understand what they need to do to achieve the higher levels.
The worksheet links to the PowerPoint and consists of a brief explanation of what is needed for each question and a number of sentence starters. It has been aimed at pupils who are currently working at a 3/4 and struggling to write in depth and at length. The sentence starters are quite simple and repetitive but give pupils the scaffolding they need before becoming completely independent. The timings given on the sheet allow learners to make sure they leave enough time to complete Part B in the exam.
There are also two worksheets for Part B. For Paper 2 it briefly explains the different text types and purposes which pupils may be required to produce. There is a checklist for each example of what they are expected to include. A writing checklist for Paper 1 is also included.
This resource is suitable for:
• The whole class
• EAL students (early stage, advanced stage)
• Late arrivals in KS4
• Individual students who need to catch up
• Students with SEN may also find it more accessible.
